Hi Briana, you sure can. See the make ahead section. “Make Ahead: Assemble the casserole, let it cool to room temperature, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate it for up to 2 days. When ready to bake, add 10-15 minutes to the baking time.”

Hi Brandy! Yes, a panko or bread crumb topping can work. Several of my viewers have added this to the recipe.

I’m getting ready to make this dish but I was wondering if I could add a panko topping. My son loves panko topping on his baked mac but I’m a bit worried that the cheese topping could be too greasy and would only make the panko a mushy mess. I’d love to know if you think this could be done and how to go about adding that breaded topping.
Thanks!

I love Mac and cheese but I did not like my recipe for it. Tried this and was blown away!!! I know the spices do not seem like enough but believe me, they are and it is awesome.

Hi Leslie! This can happen if you over heat the cream and it separates. Make sure to reduce to low heat (see instructions). It can also happen if you’re using a cheese that doesn’t melt well.

In a past recipe I’ve tried to make, the cheese sauce turned out gritty. :/ Any idea what I can be careful of to keep this from happening with your recipe when I try it? Thanks!
